Razlog
Cityscape: Three mountain city
Razlog is an old Thracian settlement that has preserved the
spirit of the Bulgarian Revival and culture. It is mostly known as place for
winter tourism because of its favorable position in the vicinity of Pirin,
Rila and Rhodopi Mountains.
Most buildings in the centre of Razlog are cultural
monuments from 1930.
Local events
The Koukeri Carnival in Razlog is an impressive
masquerade fest that is organized yearly in the beginning of January. Other
notable even is Pirin singing - one of the biggest fair of folk art
in Bulgaria which is conducted in Predela every other year in
August.
Worth seeing
Sightseeing in Razlog is fascinating experience, the Parapounov’s House on Macedonia sq. functions as Museum of History. A wide variety of folk costumes and textiles from this region can be seen in Kiprev’s House Ethnographic Museum Complex.
The church St. Georgi dates form 1834 and has remarkable mural iconostasis. 10 min away from the city centre on river Yazo you will find a still functioning Water Mill for wool.
