Bansko

Cityscape: Ski trend

Just a couple of hours drive from bustling city of Sofia and you find yourself in a different world - the ski resort Bansko. Believe me, it's something else. If you enjoy 'flying' over the slopes you'll find your perfect state of mind there.
Over the past few years Bansko witnessed an immense grow. Lots of new hotels and private apartment buildings popped up like mushrooms all over its territory. Whole new neighbourhoods has appeared in front of our eyes. Funny thing is that lots of foreigners decided Bansko is going to be their new home. There is even a guild of Englishmen there!
But even if you get there and what you see looks like downtown Sofia and you think to yourself "Where's the authentic spirit of that old, Roman settlement gone?" it is up the ski-lift where you better search. Once you're on the tracks you see what's Bansko all about.
It doesn't matter if you are skier-wannabe or professional - there are 60 km of ski tracks waiting for everybody!

The town has gained international popularity after the start of the annual Bansko Jazz Festival and consequently the annual Bansko pop-star concert featuring top pop stars.
