Varna is the largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast,
its structure resembles an amphitheatre as it follows the curves of the Bay of
Varna and is surrounded by gardens, vineyards and groves. The city has a
thousand year old history and an action-packed cultural program.
Local events
The Varna's Summer International Music Festival is the
oldest music festival in Bulgaria and is one of the festivals with traditions in
Europe. It is held every year in June-July. The city also host an International Folk Festival and August in Art (Festival of Visual Arts) - both events take palace in August.
Worth seeing

Follow the shaded boulevards to discover the breathtaking 19th
century Cathedral of the Assumption and do not miss the chance to immerse yourself to the upbeat atmosphere of the small flea market by the Cathedral. Also in the city center, explore the 2nd century remains of a Roman Bath (San Stefano str.), the largest ancient building in the country where you will be introduced to some peculiar details about the Roman presence in the land of Bulgaria. The Sea Garden is the oldest and the largest park in town, it
is favorite place for all city's visitors. There you can spend a romantic
afternoon walking among green alleys and pay a visit to the local
Amphitheatre, Observatory, Dolphinarium and Planetarium.
You should visit the Archeological Museum (41, Maria Luiza Blvd.) which
houses gold treasures from the Chalcolithic Period, widely believed to be the
oldest gold ever discovered. A choir performing Eastern Orthodox songs will
welcome you in one of the museum's icon halls. The city's Art Gallery is located on 1, Luben Karavelov str.
Outside of Varna is the Euxinograd palace, park and winery and
Aladzha the cave monastery.
